Team Competition Rules & Regulations.

ELITE  Teams Composition:

  1. A team must have three riders finishing a race to score points and earn prizes. To qualify for annual series ranking - teams must attend 3 of 4 races with 3 riders starting each to win team prizes.

  2. Teams are to be composed of riders of mixed gender. A team can have any number of individuals registering for the event.

  3. Teams are to have an Director Sportif, who may or may not be part of the racing team for each racing season. Director Sportifs are responsible for the representation of the team in the case of any dispute during events.

  4. All riders belonging to a team must identify their teams during registration - prior to registration close and upon their individual registration.

  5. As this is also an individual competition, there is NO pushing of team members allowed under any circumstances. Photo evidence of pushing or visible confirmation from a race marshall will result in rider disqualification from team AND individual categories.

  6. Team cars or motorcycles are not allowed on the race course.

  7. Teams can be formed of International or Local Riders

  8. Prize money will be sent to the Director Sportif's LOOP account. No other form of prize money will be sent. The Director Sportif is then in charge of any distribution plan the team has at their discretion.

ELITE TEAMS:
Elite teams will score points from Men racing the 100-120km event. The Ladies can race either the 100-120km event, or the 50-60km event. The ladies finishing the shorter course will be appended to the results of the 100-120km event. Therefore, ladies finishing the 100-120km event will get higher points, but they must finish the race within the allotted time to be counted. The team point allocation below applies. There are no age category restrictions on teams.

RECREATIONAL TEAMS:
The recreational category riders  in the Kids, 20km and 50km races are free to post their team names on the results as recognition of their teams support and strength - there will not be any awards for recreational teams.

Team Points Allocation:

  • Points will be allocated to the five best finishers in each team with a minimum gender ratio of 3:2. e.g. if three females from the team finish higher than the males then the points will be allocated to the three female finishers and two male finishers and vice versa.

  • If teams have more male than female riders crossing the finish line, the points awarded will only go to a maximum of 3 male riders - and vice versa.

  • Both women and men will earn the points from the same table. The team with the highest number of overall points at the end of the LOOP Safari Race Series will be crowned champions of the series, given that the team attended all four series' events.

  • Points will be awarded according to the table below:
